Talwara migrants stage dharna on High Court Road

JAMMU, Apr 9: Talwara migrants held protest demonstration in support of their pending demands on High Court Road, Janipur here today.
These aggrieved families including women tried to march towards High Court Complex to lodge their protest and seek intervention of Chief Justice of State High Court. The police intercepted these protesters  near Power House when they were moving towards High Court. Then they sat on dharna on the main High Court Road Chowk, partially disrupting the movement of traffic for some time.
These migrants from Talwara in Reasi and also residing in camp near Beli Charana here alleged that despite clear High Court orders, the State Revenue and Rehabilitation Department was not providing relief to the Talwara and other migrants from Jammu region. They said a contempt application referred by the Apex Court to the Chief Justice of J&K High Court in 2008 was still lying pending. They issued appeal to the Chief Justice to intervene in the matter.
Later, the members of the Talwara Migrants Action Committee also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice. After staging protest demonstration and dharna for about an hour they dispersed.
