Tanker driver among three arrested with poppy straw, heroin

RAMBAN, Jan 5: Police arrested three drug peddlers including a tanker driver and recovered poppy straw and heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, during checking at Shan Palace a team from Police Station Ramban intercepted a gas tanker bearing registration number PB10DE-9883 which was on its way from Kashmir towards Jammu.
During checking, police team recovered 3 kilograms poppy straw from the cabin of the tanker and arrested the driver, who was identified as Baldev Singh, son of Kartar Singh of Jodhe Tehsil Baba Bakala Amritsar Punjab.
A case FIR Number 04/2022 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Sangaldaan during checking intercepted two pedestrians, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During frisking, police team recovered 7 grams heroin from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Jameel Bhat, son of Abdul Razaaq of Bandhan Sangaldan and Mohammd Junaid, son of Mohammad Arif of Jaman Gool District Ramban.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the preliminary questioning the accused persons confessed that they were illegally transporting the contraband substance for sale among local youth.
A case under FIR Number 4/2022 under Section 8/21/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gool and investigation set into motion.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post Sangaldaan PSI Aakash Magotra made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Gool Inspector Muneer Ahmed, SDPO Gool Pardeep Kumar and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
