JAMMU, Mar 31: The oil tanker drivers and cleaners today held protest near Narwal Oil Depot in Jammu, demanding early conduct of their Union elections.
A large number of tanker drivers and cleaners led by Paramjit Singh assembled outside Narwal Oil Depot during the day today and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans against the District Administration Jammu and present Union president Ranjit Singh who is not allowing to hold smooth elections of the Union even after passage of three years due to his vested interests.

The court directed the Deputy Commissioner Jammu to initiate election process. The DC directed concerned Tehsildar to conduct elections, but the Tehsildar was just buying time and not conducting elections.
They sought the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to hold elections, otherwise, the tanker drivers will suspend supplies after four days. After holding protest for over an hour, they resumed the work.
