JAMMU, Apr 29: Former Deputy Chief Minister and AICC observer, Tarachand, campaigned aggressively in various wards of Jalandhar West in support of the Congress candidate Karanjeet Kour and expressed confidence that the party would win the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election with a heavy margin of votes.
As per a statement, Tarachand was accompanied by several senior Congress leaders, including MP from Ludhiana, S Ravneet Bittu, MP from Amritsar, S Gurjeet Singh Aujala, former PCC President Mohinder Singh KP, former VC of SC Board, Bushan Dogra, Naresh Sharma, BDC Chairman Vijay Tagotra, Kulbir Pathania, and others who also addressed the gatherings.
During the series of meetings, Tarachand canvassed for Congress candidate Karanjeet Kour and recalled the days of the Congress-led UPA Government when the common man was tension-free and had sound sleep, and prices of essential commodities were within reach.
He contrasted that with the current situation after 2014, where everyone is on edge and standing in long queues. Unemployment is now a major burning issue, with educated and technically skilled people wandering from place to place in search of jobs, even in the private sector.
The farmers of the country have been on the roads for months, and the government’s various commitments to them have been in vain, leaving them feeling cheated.
Tarachand also expressed concern about the law and order situation in Punjab, saying that Congress sacrificed its top leadership for the restoration of peace in the state and never compromised on this issue. He appealed to the voters of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat to cast their precious vote in favor of the Congress candidate.
