At the outset, we take due note of a process in Police Department having been imparted due importance where performance of disposal of criminal cases during the previous year can be analysed and strategies and action plans chalked out as to how targets could be fixed and achieved for better performance during the current year in Jammu zone. We also underline that for assessing the overall position and how to put in the best to better the results , DGP and ADGP as also other district level Police officers attended such a performance meeting and decided to attend to criminal cases with effective and quality oriented investigations falling under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Since such cases fall under special nature, the endeavours in respect of investigations should not only be that the same are done within shortest period of time but with such professional zeal that maximum convictions take place . For achieving the desired results, it is incumbent upon the Police authorities to earmark special teams , fix targets , appraise achievement levels and invigorate follow-up measures to deal with all matters relating to investigations. Deputing of “Pairvi Officers” in courts as a value addition measure for Police therein is an added workable recourse to improve performance.
