SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Terming the interest shown by political parties outside mainstream in day-to-day public interest issues a welcome gesture, the CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said the need of hour is that the Government of India must shun its rigidity and show flexibility in reaching out to the voices of dissent in Kashmir.
Addressing a public rally at Kulpora village in South Kashmir the CPI (M) leader said there is also a dire need to have a broader platform cutting across the ideological differences in order to address the sensitivities of the issues pertaining to the people.
Urging the leadership of the country, to take some concrete measures to reduce estrangement and alienation among people in Kashmir the CPI (M) leader said that there is a dire need for course correction and to begin with, the Government of India must reach out to dissenters.
Meanwhile, the CPI (M) State Secretary expressed his serious concern over the state of affairs in Government hospitals and the reports pouring in about the spurious drugs being supplied to them. He reiterated that the Government must come out with the facts about these complaints. The CPI (M) leader urged the Government to constitute a high level committee to probe the functioning of the Government hospitals including SKIMS, its affiliate medical college, valley’s children hospital, maternity and the state hospital
Tarigami said the delivery of public services in a time-bound manner at district, sub district and block level, if implemented efficiently, could become a single most revolutionary step imparting relief at the cutting edge level.
Besides others senior Kisan Leaders Abdul Hamid Wani and Mohd Afzal Parray addressed the rally.
