Tarun Vijay honoured with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Nat’l award

JAMMU, Nov 24: Tarun Vijay, former BJP MP, has been awarded the prestigious Baba Banda Singh Bahadur National Award for his contributions to preserving the legacy of the great Sikh warrior who freed Punjab from the Mughals.
The award was presented by the tenth descendant of Baba Banda Singh, Sardar Jatinderpal Singh Sodhi, during a grand Sikh congregation in Fatehabad, Haryana.
The award includes a Siropa, a silver plaque, and a cash prize of 51 thousand rupees.
Tarun Vijay was recognized for his literary work, particularly his book on Baba Banda Singh’s courage and sacrifice.
He was also praised for his efforts in building the first-ever Banda Singh Ghat on the Chenab River in Reasi, Jammu & Kashmir, and for constructing a road leading to Baba Banda Singh’s Dera.
His work in highlighting the martyrdom site of Baba Banda Singh in Delhi, which had previously been obscure, was also acknowledged.
Tarun Vijay is the first person from Uttarakhand to receive this distinguished Sikh award.
