Srinagar, Mar 24: Amberpura Tarzoo residents in North Kashmir’s Sopore town protested today against the Roads and Buildings department for failing to macadamize and repair roads in their area.
Scores of residents blocked Tarzoo-Hygam road to protest against the department for failing to meet their demands. They said that officials never responded to their pleas and that the road is in disrepair since it has not been renovated in a long time. “We took to the streets a number of times to press for our demands, but all in vain because the concerned department failed to take any steps in this regard,” the locals said.
The protestors said that they had approached the concerned authorities several times in the past, but no action had been taken to address their concerns. “We have knocked on every possible door but to no avail,” a protestor said.
The residents appealed to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and end their commuting troubles.
