KATRA, Sept 16: Demanding permanent stand to their commercial vehicles, a number of taxi operators who used to operate from Katra today held demonstration and staged protest at Municipal Committee Katra under the presidentship of Manhor Lal.
The protesting Taxi operators asked the Municipal Committee to provide stand cum parking space to their vehicles as they alleged that it becomes duty of the concerned office to arrange land when they use to charge fees during their vehicle’s entry into the town.
President Pithoo and Pony Union, Bhupinder Singh, said that parking cum stand space at the prime location of bus stand has been pre-occupied by taxi operators who are operating to and fro from Airport and Dakbungalow Jammu while taxi operators who operate from Katra having valid taxi documents are devoid of permanent taxi stand.
However, the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra Ravi Sharma, assured to the agitating operators that their matter shall be put before the DDC Reasi who has authority to take decision on this matter
