Sir,
While inviting attention towards the article “Lessons for Congress and BJP” DE 26th May, 2016 by Amit Kushari, wherein Mr Kushari very correctly says, “One has to move very slowly and cautiously in taxing the public so that they do not even realise that they are being taxed. The leaders must realize that they can do something good for the country only if their Government survives and escapes the wrath of the people”. I would like to say what actually our Government at present does in this behalf.
Last year Jammu Municipal Corporation realized a tax of Rs 600 per annum from shopkeepers (even poor and petty retailers) with the promise of cleaning the roads and drains everyday twice including water sprinkling and furnishing of dustbins etc but nothing was done later on. Surprisingly, the department–JMC again came this year and collected huge sum of money Rs 2400 per year as tax even from small retailers. If the Government policy continues as such, certainly Government will have to face the wrath of people.
Yours etc….
