JAMMU, May 29: The members of Thathri Development Front (TDF), Doda in a press statement issued here have appealed to Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister in PMO & Member Delimitation Commission for J&K to create separate Assembly Constituency of Sub-Division Thathri.
The members of the Front included RR Manhas, KK Rao, OR Bhall, Advocate Kanwarjeet Singh Thakur, Layaqat, Behare Lal Bhagat and Javeed Iqbal Batt.
“The Sub-Division Thathri is divided in Bhadarwah and Inderwal Constituencies because of which the whole Sub-Division is lacking the basic facilities. Sub-Division Thathri is the most backward and undeveloped Sub-Division of Jammu & Kashmir UT, whose 90% population is situated in villages in the rural area. The benefits of independence & democracy are yet to reach this area as it has all along been neglected in the past by the successive State Governments,” the statement said.
They statement added that the delimitation of Assembly seats has become more necessary with the creation of 8 new Districts because some areas of one Constituency were falling under the administrative jurisdiction of two Districts, adding Inderwal, Chatroo and Thakrai of Inderwal Constituency fall in Kishtwar District, while some parts of erstwhile Thathri Tehsil ( Tehsil Kahara, Tehsil Thathri &Tehsil Phagsoo of same Inderwal Constituency remain with District Doda. “Such a situation exists in many Assembly segments across the erstwhile J&K UT that is bound to hamper the developmental and other social welfare activities,”
The members said.
The members further said that it was very unfortunate that Tehsil Kahara, Tehsil Thathri and Tehsil Phagsoo of Sub-Division Thathri was attached with Inderwal Constituency (Inderwal, Chatroo & Thakrai villages of the erstwhile Kishtwar Tehsil) which was about 65 kms from Sub-Division Thathri and 30 kms away from District Headquarter Kishtwar) & Tehsil Chiralla , Tehsil Bhella & four Panchyats of Kahara Tehsils of Sub-Division Thathri were attached with Bhadarwah Constituency which is injustice with the poor people of Sub-Division Thathri.
