MJR-47 ( Movement for Justice for POJK Refugees of 1947) submitted memorandum to the Delimitation Commission seeking 24 seats for POJK DPs in terms of Section 14(4)(a) and Section 60 of JK Reorganization Act,2019 which provides that 107/114 should be the total strength of Assembly seats when till date 24 seats were wrongly deducted.
Suchwant Singh chief spokesperson, MJR-47 impressed upon the Commission that allocation of 24 seats falls within the purview of Delimitation Commission as per the Act. He highlighted the irony of the earlier Government by defreezing one POJK seat for Meander where POJK DPs don’t reside and if at all the same was to be defreezed the same would have been done in favour of POJK DPs.
He further contended that the political representation is provided to women to accommodate one class of gender so that their issues are not ignored and then how both genders of one class with such majority is being ignored for the last 74 years.
He demanded that full Assembly seats may kindly be declared by allocating 24 seats for POJK DPs settled in around 25 constituencies all along border running from Poonch to Kathua and other states of Indian Union.
