JAMMU, Sept 12 : As a part of taxpayers education programme, TDS awareness seminars were organized by Income Tax Department here today.
On the occasion, Tajinder Pal Singh,Addl Commissioner of Income Tax,TDS Range,Amritsar was the chief guest and he gave an overview of the role and scope of TDS and its contribution towards tax collection.
A power point presentation about the provisions of TDS and obligations of DDOs and PAOs was also given by Amit Trakroo,Income Tax Officer, TDS Circle, Jammu.
In the morning session, the seminar was organized for the members of Associated Chamber of Traders Federation which among others was attended by Yashpal Gupta, President , Neeraj Anand, Secy General and the representatives of automobile dealers, electric dealers, brick kiln, computers, financiers, printers, Raghunath Bazar, hosiery & readymade, Kanak Mandi Traders Association and Distributors Association.
In the afternoon session,the seminar was organized for the Officers of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts office which besides Officers/PAOs was also attended by Himanshu Shanker, Addl CDA, Jammu.
These seminars were attended by more than 200 persons and an interactive session was also held on TDS provisions and mandatory e-filing of quarterly statements. The participants expressed the hope that conducting of such seminars would go in a long way in creating awareness among the deductors.
