SRINAGAR, Apr 4: Police arrested a school teacher for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl student of a Government school in the South Kashmir district of Shopian today.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zaipora Shopian, Irshad Ahmad said that a case (FIR 15/2013 in Police Station Zainpora under Section 354 RPC) has been registered against a Government teacher Zahoor Ahmad Lone resident of village Heff Shermal of Government High School Heff Shermal, Shopian on a complaint lodged by the parents of the girl students.
Chief Education Officer, Shopian, Abdul Hamid Kumar said that immediately after the complaint teacher was suspended and an inquiry has been ordered to find out the truth.
The Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Javed Khan told Excelsior that a delegation of residents of Heff Shermal levelled allegations against a teacher but the teacher dismissed the allegations. “However, I have ordered inquiry into the matter”, he added.
Parents of the girls studying in the school allege that there have been complaints against the teachers of the school. They said that Irshad has sexually assaulted a girl yesterday that led to the lodging of complaint against him.
