JAMMU, Nov 2: Principal Sessions Judge Bhaderwah, M K Sharma today awarded six months imprisonment to teacher Abdul Khaliq, son of Ramzan Butt of Chanyas, Gandoh, who was facing trial for the last 21 years for tampering his date of birth from October 10, 1947 to October 10, 1957.
According to the police case, Abdul Khaliq, whose date of birth is 07/10/1947 fraudulently changed his school leaving certificate allegedly issued by Government High School Jakyas (Bhalessa) with DoB as 07/10/1957. On the basis of this certificate, the accused filled an application form for appearing in matriculation examination as private candidate in the year 1988 and successfully qualified the same.
The fake date of birth entered by the accused in the application form was reflected in the qualification and diploma issued by the Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education. The accused then obtained employment in the Government as teacher.
The accused had actually crossed the prescribed age limit for employment in Government service when he was appointed as teacher. He has, therefore, caused wrongful gain to himself and wrongful loss to the exchequer by drawing salary for which he was not entitled to.
On the basis of this complaint, a preliminary enquiry was conducted by Crime Branch, Jammu and after completion of investigation challan was presented.
