J&K State Govt with collaboration of Govt of India has progressed a lot in modernising school education system by providing funds through SSA and RMSA for infrastructure, universal access, overall literacy, better results and for increase in enrolment in Govt Schools so as to produce better citizens, army officers, doctors, lecturers, professors and administrative officers. More to say maximum efforts are being put through qualitative teaching by SIE and DIETS by launching various orientation programmes, seminars, subject experts’ training programmes, and orientation for principals and headmasters as well as for ZEOs and ZEPOs. Moreover Play, Music/Musharras, Poetries, Science Exhibitions competitions, quiz programmes are the extra co-curricular activities being displayed by the Research officers with the active participation of students under the guidance of science and competent teachers. Such activities definitely upgrade the talent of students and that of the teachers also. These educational and professional development programmes will surely prepare competent teachers to run community schools. Teacher Education plays a major role to build teacher as an architect of men and minds vested with high aspirations, deep knowledge visionary fellowship and a repertoire having pedagogic capacities and human attitudes.
Teacher behaviour needs to be prepared in relation to the needs and demands of the students arising in the school precisely in view of the problem in each of the class room situation so that the teacher may be able to deliver sound knowledge and satisfy each of the learners during teaching learning process. Basically teacher is an agent, who brings theoretic, economic, political and social change as per the expectations of the society.
The teacher must be well equipped not only to teach but also to understand the students, community members and parents, so that children develop the value of regularity, honesty and dedication in the school as well as in the society. Teacher should refrain from corporal punishment while delivering lessons based on the entire curriculum. He should have easy access to the Panchayat. Corporators, students, parents and hold meetings with them regarding various activities of the sshool and seek their suggestions for improvement. The Dy CM has already further exhorted all educational institutions of J&K State to holding parent teachers meetings at every 3rd day of the month to discuss strength and weakness of every student in the class. He also opined to deliver speeches for moral education in the morning assembly which is praise worthy step in the field of education.
As per NCF report, a teacher should act as a facilitator of learning and a co-constructor of knowledge. There should be an active participation of teachers in the structuring of syllabi, textbooks, teaching learning material etc. This can be feasible only if a teacher has adequate understanding / knowledge of curriculum, subject contents and essence of pedagogy on one side as well as community/school management on the other. A teacher should put efforts in making the child free of fear, trauma and anxiety and tension so that he can express his views freely. The learning of a teacher should not be confined within the four walls of the classroom but he must be well aware with life outside the school. Thus it is concluded to improve teaching learning process with regard to fresh knowledge skills, values and attitude which play very important role in making the teacher can ideal “Knowledge Sprayer having scientific tempo”.
Teachers training Institutes only can activate the legendary-spint in a magnified way among teacher-educators provided new vistas of educational policies and programmes of pedagogic nature are freely undertaken State Council of Education Research and Training is of course commtted to it.
