JAMMU, May 16: Director School Education, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh today terminated the services of a general line teacher, who had obtained job on the basis of fake degree.
The erring teacher namely Raj Kumar, son of Bhagat Ram of Malhar area of Billawar tehsil was appointed as Rehbar-e-Taleem in the year 2003 and was regularized as general line teacher in the year 2009. One of the most important documents relied upon by Raj Kumar for such selection was the degree of 10+2 bearing Roll No.305875 (Session 1996-97) of JKBOSE.
On March 20, 2015, one Kuldeep Singh, son of Bhagat Ram of Malhar lodged a complaint with the Director School Education alleging that selection of Raj Kumar as ReT was made on the basis of fake degree and no action has been taken by the Education Department for the last 12 years.
He informed the Director that he had approached the then Chief Education Officer, Kathua in the year 2009 with the same allegation and thereafter the matter was taken up with JKBOSE for verification. Initially, the Joint Secretary (Verification) of JKBOSE after verifying the records clarified that the degree bearing No.305875 of session 1996-97 was issued in favour of Pritam Kumar, son of Saran Dass and not in favour of Raj Kumar, who got the job. But before the action could be taken, a corrigendum was received from JKBOSE mentioning that Raj Kumar had indeed passed SSE under the Roll No.305875 during the session 1996-97.
In view of the contradictory reports received from the JKBOSE, the authorities of Education Department failed to take a final decision on the matter for the last six years. The present Director School Education, after going through the complaint, took up the matter with Secretary JKBOSE for a clarification and finally it came to the fore that JKBOSE had never issued corrigendum in favour of Raj Kumar.
Taking serious note of this, Director School Education has terminated the services of Raj Kumar working as general line teacher on regularization as ReT for obtaining job on fake degree and later producing a fake verification letter to defend his fake degree.
The Director has written to the SSP Kathua for registration of FIR into the matter.
The action of the Director came at a time when High Court has already issued orders for constitution of committee to look into fake certificates on which teachers have been appointed in the Education Department.
