Teacher suspended, inquiry ordered

Srinagar, Sept 8: A teacher at the Government Higher Secondary School, Shutloo in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad has been suspended pending an inquiry into allegations of engaging in “indecent” and “sexually explicit” chats with female students.
According to the suspension order issued by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Baramulla, the accused teacher has been temporarily attached to the office of the Principal, Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore.
The order states, “Pending inquiry into the matter, Mr. Owais Ahmad Nanda, a teacher presently posted at HSS Shutloo, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, the said official shall remain attached to the office of Principal BHSS Sopore.”
The allegations came to light when concerned parents and students reported the teacher’s alleged misconduct to the school authorities, which prompted a thorough inquiry at the school level.
CEO Baramulla, Balbir Singh Raina, assured that a comprehensive investigation into this matter has been initiated, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
