JAMMU, Jan 18:  The recent Government order regarding cancellation of deployments and attachments of all cadres of the teaching staff in the School Education Department has invited sharp criticism of the teaching community, which has demanded a review of the hasty order.
“The said order has been issued at the peak of the current academic session and without knowing the ground realities vis-à-vis status of hundreds of Masters who have no posting at present,” said Ganesh Khajuria, State general secretary of the Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum while addressing a press conference, here today.
While elaborating, he said that the Masters of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts, who were repatriated from Chenab Valley, Reasi, Udhampur and Poonch-Rajouri after serving for a long period of three to five years, had reported to CEOs of their respective home district, who deployed them for utilizing their services in different schools instead of posting them suitably.
“Further,  Masters who are resident of other districts, were transferred and adjusted against the vacant posts in  Jammu by the higher authorities at the behest of corrupt politicians and thus derailing the functioning of whole education Department and debarring justice to the Masters of Jammu,” Ganesh Khajuria said.
He said that due to cancellation of deployment, those suffering from chronic and fatal diseases like Cancer, Heart ailment and physically handicapped will also be badly affected and the Government must take a sympathetic view in this regard.
The JKTF leader informed that they were going to meet the Director School Education Jammu tomorrow for apprising him of the situation arisen out of the recent Government order and seek rederssal of their grievance.
All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation has also expressed its reservation over the Government order on revocation of attachments/ deployments and urged the concerned authorities to review the same at an earliest.
During an emergency meeting of the Federation, held today to discuss the situation, the participants elaborated about the reasons against cancellation of attachments and deployments.
“The Masters and lecturers from other districts were transferred and adjusted in Jammu, Samba and Kathua while those working on these posts were directed to report to the CEOs for further adjustment,” they pointed out and said that cancellation of deployment/ attachment would also lead to disturbing studies of the students at the peak season.
The meet also decided to organize a protest dharna against the Government order on cancellation of attachment, near the Press Club Jammu on January 22.
The meeting was attended by Mukand Lal Sharma, Bhushan Verma, Mohan Singh, Maheshwar Prasad and others.
Reports from Kathua said that a strong protest was organized by teachers against the Government order on detachment. The protest was organized under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum. District president of the Forum, Subash Sharma led the protest, during which the teachers raised slogans against the detachment order.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by Subash Sharma, who said that the Department should review the detachment order and a committee be constituted for justification of all the cases. The detachment order  is a welcome step  in the right direction but those deployed by the department  in their home districts, must be adjusted  appropriately in own district,” he stressed and held the former Education Minister Tara Chand responsible for the prevailing mess in the department.
However, another group of All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation, led by Balwan Singh Jamwal, has supported the Government order on detachments and demanded implementation of the same in letter and spirit.
In a statement, the Federation stressed for strict adherence of norms for transfers, postings and promotions and said that those, who are waiting for their adjustment after repatriation to their home district following completion of  tenure at other districts, should be adjusted on priority.
