JAMMU, June 11: A deputation of All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation called on Director School Education Tushar Kanti Sharma and submitted him a charter of demands.
The deputation, led by the Federation president Balwan Singh Jamwal, highlighted the demands like fool proof transfer norms, filling up of all the vacant posts of teachers, Masters, Lecturers and non-teaching staff in the educational institutions, leave encashment for teachers, Senior Teacher grade to trained under graduate teachers, timely release of salary grants, adjustment in home district for the teachers who have been serving in other districts for the last three years, suitable adjustment of Masters repatriated from Reasi, Doda and Udhampur, Ramban and other districts.
While apprising the Director about the demands, Balwan Singh said that normless transfer policy was major factor behind the deteriorating standard of education in schools. Teachers have become a political instrument in the hands of politicians who utilize their service for their political gains on pretext of their undue favouritism in transfers, he alleged.
The Director gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured to take up all the issues with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
The deputation comprised of Joginder Singh Manhas, Manga Ram Sharma, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Naresh Choudhary, Daljeet Singh Bhau, Satvir Singh, Mohd Shabir, Suresh Sharma and others.
