Teachers Forum meets Advisor Bhatnagar, raises issues

JAMMU, Jan 11: A delegation of J&K Teachers Forum led by its chairman, Mohammad Amin Khan met Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, R.R Bhatnagar and Administrative Secretary to the Department of School Education, Dr. Piyush Singla.
The delegation highlighted the issues faced by teachers, masters, headmasters and lecturers and recommended the authorities to refrain from transferring teachers with only three years of service to hard zones against their preferences and also said that teaching officials with just one year remaining to retirement should be exempt from transfers.
To ensure the successful execution of NIPUN Bharat Mission, the delegation members suggested assigning a minimum of two teachers for pre-primary classes.
They emphasized on the importance of confirming the appointments of all masters, headmasters, lecturers, ZEOs and Principals to provide stability.
Advocating for judicious distribution of human resources, the Forum proposed for a transfer policy specifically tailored for the erstwhile ReTs and inclusion of 5 years service for pension benefits in case of those who fall in OPS category.
The delegation members said that recognizing the unique circumstances of reserved category employees in Kashmir, a specialized transfer policy should be formed to address their needs and concerns.
Apart from this separate soft and tranquil transfer policy for female teachers was also demanded.
The delegation stressed on the necessity of providing at least one room and one teacher for each class in primary and elementary schools to create a conducive learning environment.
The Forum also demanded leave salary benefits for teachers, headmasters and Principals.
The Administrative Secretary expressed confidence that the contributions of teachers would elevate the region’s educational standards.
Forum vice chairman, Showkat Ali Beigh; chief spokesperson, Mir Bashir Ahmad; president (Jammu) Mohammad Ashraf; State secretary, Gh Nabi Sofi; president women wing, Mymoona Khan; Muzafer Hussain, senior executive members, Nitin Kalyaan; provincial organizer, Mir Ab Qayoom; District president Kulgam, M. Ashraf and others were also part of the delegation.
