JAMMU, Dec 27: Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum has strongly opposed the Government move to fill the newly created posts of Joint Directors in the School Education Department from among the KAS cadre.
In this connection, a meeting of the Forum was held today under the chairmanship of its general secretary Ganesh Khajuria. The meet unanimously decided to oppose the move tooth and nail till the Cabinet Sub-Committee recommendation in this regard is withdrawn.
This is ill-advised move, which will undermine the promotional prospects of education officers and more particularly, it will curtail the promotional avenues of CEOs, who are already facing stagnation in their promotion, the meet observed.
The Forum members further alleged that instead of concentrating on welfare of the students and raising the education standard, the Government was un-necessarily harassing the teaching community. Every year, thousands of teachers are being deployed on non-teaching duties and this has severely affected studies of the students, they added.
The Forum also highlighted some demands of the teaching cadre, like regularization of Education officers, immediate adjustment of promoted Lecturers of Commerce stream in Jammu division, who are awaiting their adjustment since October 2014, etc.
The meeting was attended by Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Darshan Sharma, Freed Ahmad Fani, Jamat Ali, Shankar Singh, N S Chib, Kuldeep Verma, Subash Sharma, Gulam Hussain, Joginder Singh, Raj Singh and others.
