JAMMU, Mar 7: Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum has threatened a series of protest demonstrations at district headquarters of Jammu province if demands of the teaching fraternity are not considered by the Government.
A massive demonstration is being organized on March 25 in the premises of Directorate of School Education Jammu and it will be followed by similar protests in the coming days, said Ganesh Khajuria, general secretary of the Forum, while addressing a press conference, here today.
Highlighting their demands, which included posting of recently promoted Headmasters, promotion of Teachers as Masters, permission for higher qualification by the in-service teachers and enhancement of honorarium of ReTs as well as Evs, he alleged that the Government was forcing the teaching community to resort to agitational path.
“Some of the recently promoted Headmasters are going to attain superannuation while the Government is keeping their order for posting in abeyance for the reason best known to higher authorities,” Mr Khajuria said.
Also demanding adjustment of Teachers, who were promoted as Master in August 2012, he said that delay in their posting was causing frustration and resentment among the teaching fraternity, who are already lagging behind their counterparts in Kashmir division by three years.
The Forum leader also demanded implementation of High Court direction in favour of class IV employees for promotional benefits, handing over the Mid Day Meal Scheme to the local school committee or Panchayats, timely release of salary grants and second installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears, framing of transfer policy for ReTs and issuance of order for promotion as Senior Teacher Grade.
In the press conference, Ganesh Khajuria was accompanied by some other leaders of the Forum, who included Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Satish Dutta and Darshan Sharma.
