JAMMU, Oct 8: An urgent meeting of Teachers Guild Jammu & Kashmir was held today to discuss the burning issue of promotions of Teachers, Masters and Lecturers to next higher grades and filling up of the vacant posts of different cadres.
The meeting was chaired by Nasir Ahmed Qurashi, State president of TGJK, who said that near about 1500 posts of Masters and 1200 of Lecturers are lying vacant. “The promotion of Masters to Lecturers in various subjects has not been ordered except one or two subjects due to reasons well known to the higher authorities,” he said and added that the Government was sitting on the issue and could not take any decision on the qualifications and degrees of teachers and Masters acquired from other universities of the country.
“The issue of degrees has not been resolved yet by the School Education Department and as such promotions could not be made in most of the disciplines,” Qurashi rued and added that on the one hand the students are suffering badly for want of lecturers in the particular subjects and on the other side; the teachers are being put to stagnation.
“Similarly is the case of teachers to Masters as the Masters promoted in 2014 are still waiting for their adjustment in 2017 after a period of three years and further DPC of teachers to Masters is still pending,” he said and informed that near about 1500 posts of Masters are unfilled due to non-issuance of DPC.
Pertinent to mention that as per Government rules, DPC of all cadres has to be conducted every year and even every six months.
The others, who spoke in the meeting, included Vijay Kumar Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Ajit Kumar, Kewel Krishen, Vinod Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Mushtaq Mohd, Balbir Singh, Verinder Kumar, Sadiq Hussain, Narayan Baru, M A Wani, Anil Kumar, Ghulam Rasool, Mohan Singh, Charanji Lal, Kasturi Lal, Ashwani Kumar, Ram Lal, Devinder Kumar, Om Parkash, Vijay Kumar Gupta, Subash Singh, Rita Sharma and Suman Kumari.
