JAMMU, May 16: To lodge protest against delay in salary of SSA/RMSA/NPS employees, teachers will wear black badges during class work on May 30 and will hoist black flags on all educational institutes as a mark of protest.
Decision in this regard was taken during a district level conventions under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, at Town Hall Bandipora. The convention was presided over by president EJAC, Abdul Qayoom Wani, who was accompanied by Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Mohammad Rafique Rather, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, Pir Nisar and other leaders.
In his address, Abdul Qayoom Wani criticized the role of higher ups of Education Department for not releasing the salary of employees who have reached the stage of starvation and their families are facing difficulties which is in no way tolerable to the teaching fraternity. He threatened that if the salaries of teachers are not released by May 29, 2016, all the teachers throughout the State will wear black badges on their shoulders besides hoisting black flags on all educational institutes as a mark of protest during office hours.
Mr Wani also appealed the Government to redress the genuine demands of employees of Education Department in particular and other employees in general. These demanded including implementation of Minimum Wages Act on all employees, especially contingent paid employees, removal of pay anomaly of Masters/clerical cadres, regularization of all incharge officers of Education Department, increase in Medical Allowances from 300 to 3000, etc.
Abdul Qayoom Wani appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to personally intervene in releasing the salaries of teaching fraternity besides redressal of other genuine demands of employees of J&K State. “We do not want any confrontation and want to solve all the pending issues amicably but unnecessary delay in resolving the issues compels employees fraternity to resort agitational path,” he said and advised the teachers that during this symbolic protest on May 30, the class work must not suffer in any case.
