Teachers, pensioners protest

JAMMU, Mar 8: Demanding restoration of Dev Lata as Director School Education, the members of All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation held a protest dharna in the DSE premises, here today.
Members of All J&K State Pensioners Association also joined the protest dharna.
Shouting slogans in support of their demand, the protesting teachers announced to organize similar demonstrations at block, tehsil and district level.
They also announced to file a PIL in the State High Court to seek justice for the officer, who was performing her duties with honesty and dedication but transferred within two months as Director School Education.
For launching a joint struggle by teachers and pensions against dilly dally policies of the State Government towards their various demands, a joint action committee was also announced on the occasion.
Comprising Prof B L Bhardwaj, Bhushan S Verma, Maheshwar Prashad, Madan Lal Abrol, Ram Paul Saini, Mehar Singh and Hardev Singh, the committee will stage a protest dharna on March 15 and then organize a series of protest demonstrations at Reasi, Kathua, Vijaypur, Hiranagar and other district headquarters in first phase of agitation.
Main demands of the joint action committee are; release of 6th Pay Commission arrears in one installment, merger of 50 percent DA in the basic pay, strict adherence to the transfer policy in Education Department, adjustment of teachers, masters in their own localities and districts, filling up of vacant posts of Masters, teachers, enhancement of the Medical Allowance, Central pattern for the State pensioners. etc.
