Teachers protest for release of salary

KATHUA, Oct 18: Up in arms against the Education Department as well as State Government for not releasing their salary for the last several months, a protest demonstration was held here today by teachers under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, Kathua.
Raising slogans in support of their demands, the teacher, led by Amar Nath Thakur, general secretary JKTF, assembled at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and staged massive protect.
Addressing the gathering, Amar Nath said that teachers working under RMSA were without salary for last three month while those working under SSA are without their salary for last 10 months.  He demanded an enquiry against the State Project Director SSA for adopting pick and choose policy in allotting the salary grants under SSA to district Kathua where 2000 masters, teachers are working in 13 zones and only Rs 7 crore as salary has been allotted till September.
Others who addressed, included S Parveen Singh, Ganesh Khajuria, Kuldip Singh and many more.
Later the protesting teachers submitted a memorandum of demands to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah through Deputy Commissioner Kathua for his personal intervention in releasing the salary grants. A memorandum was also submitted to CEO Kathua.
