JAMMU, Oct 15:  Up in arms against the alleged pick and choose policy by the Education Department, a number of teachers held a protest demonstration, here today.
The protesting teachers raised slogans against the Education Department and in support of their demands, which included immediate release of the pending salary of teachers working under SSA and RMSA schemes.
The demonstration was organized under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum, Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, Teachers Forum general secretary Ganesh Khajuria strongly criticized the State Government for not giving heed to the long pending demands of the teaching community. He lamented the teachers working under SSA and RMSA are without salary for the last six to eight months resulting into hardships to their families, which are at the verge of starvation.
Highlighting several demands, which include issuance of salary grants on half yearly basis, immediate release of promotion list  of Headmasters Lecturers, etc,  he also alleged pick and choose policy by the Department in adjustment of newly promoted Masters,  Lecturers and Headmasters.
Ganesh Khajuria threatened that if their demands are not conceded, the teaching community would have no option other than to launch a vigorous stir against the Government.
Others, who addressed the demonstration, included Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Rajeshwar Singh, Darshan Sharma, Satish Dutta, Kuldeep Singh, Surat Singh Toofani, Roop Lal, Raj Singh, Ravinder Singh, Gopal Sharma, Yuvraj Singh Pathania, Balbir Singh, Ram Parsad, Surinder Sharma, Davinder Singh, Ajeet Verma, Manmohan Singh, Yashpaul Sharma, Subash Singh Jamwal, Ajeet Singh, Shanker Singh, Majid Hussain, Jas Paul, Bhupesh Choudhary, Krishan Lal Saberwal, Lalita Sharma and Jagjeet Kour.
