Teachers removed from duty of BLOs in Leh

LEH, June 26: In order to provide continuity to the academic curriculum of various schools in the district, the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Simrandeep Singh has removed all the teachers of the Education Department from the duty of Booth Level Officers with immediate effect.
About 80 teachers, who were engaged as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been removed and are replaced by the officials from the departments of Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development and Cooperatives etc.
The Deputy Commissioner has also directed Returning Officers for the forthcoming Assembly elections to be more watchful in posting the staff as polling parties especially taking into account the number of voters in a polling station.
In the polling stations where number of voters is less than 100, only a small polling party comprising 2 polling personals could be deputed, the Deputy Commissioner said in the order.
It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Rigzin Spalbar was also in the favour of removing all the teachers of Education Department from the duty of BLOs.
