JAMMU, Aug 3: Team Jammu and Panun Kashmir today lashed out at PDP-BJP Coalition Government for its decision to introduce Kashmiri language in colleges affiliated to University of Jammu.
Lashing out at power hungry BJP ministers for maintaining criminal silence over the assault on secular Dogra identity, Team Jammu today asked the PDP-BJP Coalition Government not to check the patience of Dogra people and warned that any move to impose Kashmiri language in Jammu colleges will have serious ramifications.
“The BJP leadership has shamelessly surrendered before the Kashmiri leadership and the recent decision of higher education to go ahead with its dangerous move of imposing Kashmiri language is a clear reflection of it,” said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman of Team Jammu while addressing an emergent meeting of members of Team Jammu.
He warned of dire consequences for issuing a Government order for introduction of Kashmiri language as subject in one of the Jammu University affiliated Government Degree Colleges.
“With the connivance of Kashmiri leadership, the power hungry BJP ministers are hell bent to wipe out Dogra heritage and culture”, Zorawar Singh said and added allowing imposition of Kashmiri in degree colleges was the first step in this direction.
“BJP leaders should keep in mind they are peoples’ representatives and they were voted by the people to protect Jammu’s aspirations”, he said and added that taking Jammu far granted would be proved disastrous for BJP and other leaders.
Pointing towards today’s order issued by the Higher Education Department in which 49 posts of Assistant Professors have been “reserved” for Dogra language, Zorawar said that this order was nothing but an eye-wash to befool the people.
Meanwhile, Panun Kashmir also condemned the hegemonic decision of imposing Kashmiri language in Jammu and demands the immediate cancellation of the order for introduction of Kashmiri language as a subject in Jammu University affiliated colleges as well as schools.
“We are of the firm opinion that the decision of the Government has little to do with the promotion of the Kashmiri language and more to do with extension of the Kashmiri Muslim hegemony into the Jammu region”, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, chairman, Panun Kashmir, said in a statement.
“We have immense love for this language but we have no doubt that this language is now being made an instrument in the Islamic demographic invasion of Jammu. It is also being made a tool in promotion of separatism in Jammu”, Dr Chrungoo alleged.
He said that imposition of Kashmiri language in a selective manner in Jammu while doing nothing for Dogri, Punjabi and other languages spoken in the State smacks of nefarious motivations and sectarian objectives.
