RAJOURI, Feb 1: In their pursuit to find cause of mysterious deaths at village Badhaal in district Rajouri, the team of experts from PGI Chandigarh and AIIMS New Delhi visited the patients at GMC Rajouri and also people kept in the observation home.
While three specialists from PGI are already camping for last two days at Rajouri, a team of five experts including a specialist in Toxicology from AIIMS Delhi arrived today. They interacted with the patients who have fully recovered so far and their relatives to inquire about the whole incident.
Both the teams made several queries about the whole episode from the patients and their attendants and also examined some of the patients.
The team PGI Chandigarh visited the Badhaal village and collected some samples from the village. The PGI team has also visited the villagers who have been settled in Nursing College Rajouri and Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri.
At present 11 patients from Budhal area were admitted in GMC Rajouri and have fully recovered since the Antidote Atropine has been started. No new case has been reported.
Both the teams are working to find the possible cause for the mysterious disease and to formulate the follow up and discharge policy of these patients till the exact nature of toxin is found.
It is pertinent to mention that 17 people have lost their life in the mysterious illness till the authorities at GMC Rajouri started giving particular dose. Since the atropine was introduced as a part of treatment no death has occurred.
