Teenager killed in mishap, man succumbs to burn injuries

JAMMU, June 9: A teenaged boy was killed today in a road accident in Bantalab area of city outskirts while a man succumbed to his burn injuries at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
According to a police official, a 17-year-old boy namely Mohit Chauhan son of Rattan Chauhan, resident of Chouhana Chak (Marh) received grievous injuries when a bike bearing registration number JK02AR-7327 which he was riding, was hit by a tractor in Lower Thathar area of Bantalab.
“The mishap occurred today at about 10 AM near Tube Well when he was on his way from Domana to Thathar,” the official said, adding, the injured boy was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
He said that a case under relevant sections has been registered in this connection at police station Domana and further investigation started while body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after completion of all medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Yogesh Kumar (30) son of Gulshan Kumar, resident of Anand Nagar (Bohri), who was undergoing treatment for her burn injuries at GMCH Jammu, expired today at about 5 AM. He was injured severely on June 7 when a fire broke out in the kitchen of his house due to leakage of cooking gas.
After postmortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites while Pounichak police had already initiated inquest proceeding under 174 CrPC in this connection.
