DODA, Feb 26: The people of Panchayat Drab Kandi (Bhella), Tehsil Thathri, demanded Tehsil status for the area alleging that it is a central place between Tehsil Thathri and Panchayat Chiralla comprising eight feeding Panchayats, approximately 30,000 population and thousand kanals of land availability.
“Apart from road connectivity with NHIA (B) long back, the area (which is about 18 kilometres from present Tehsil Headquarter) also houses a Police Station, J&K Bank, Primary Health Centre, an Ayurvedic Hospital, Block Agriculture Extension Office, PHE Sub-Division Office, oldest Higher Secondary School among the rest of the Panchayats, despite this it (Drab Kandi) has been neglected by the Cabinet Sub-Committee while out of the present Tehsil Headquarter, two more Tehsils viz Panchayat Phigsoo (which is barely 4 kilometres from Tehsil Headquarter Thathri) and Panchayat Chiralla (which is 40 kilometres from the same) have been created”, said chairman, People’s Welfare Association (PWA), Drab Kandi, BR Kotwal.
