Temps plummet in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 7 : After remaining above normal for three days, the minimum temperature again plummeted in Srinagar and parts of the Kashmir valley.
A Meteorological Department official said that the mercury fell around four degrees Celsius in Srinagar, settling at minus 3.6 degrees Celsius against the previous night’s 0.6 degrees Celsius.
Srinagar has minus 0.4 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the year and for the last three days, the minimum temperature stayed above sub-zero level.
The minimum temperature also fell in other parts of the Valley.
Qazigund recorded a low of minus 6.3 degrees Celsius against minus 1.5 degrees Celsius the previous night while the mercury settled at minus 6.2 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam against minus 6.3 degrees Celsius the previous night. Kokernag recorded a minimum of minus 5.4 degrees Celsius against minus 2.5 degrees Celsius the previous night.
The mercury also settled at minus 3.7 degrees Celsius in Kupwara against minus 1.8 degrees Celsius the previous night while Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 11.6 degrees Celsius against minus 10.4 degrees Celsius the previous night.
The weatherman has forecast mainly dry weather in J&K in the next few days.
