Ten die after consuming spurious liquor in Barabanki

BARABANKI:  At least 10 people died and several others were rushed to the hospital after they consumed spurious liquor in Ramnagar area of the district on Tuesday.
Among the dead are four members of a family including father and his three sons.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath taking serious note on the incident has ordered principal secretary (excise) to probe into the matter and punish the guilty people.
The incident was reported on Monday night in Raniganj area of Ramnagar and all the deceased purchased country made liquor from one shop of Danveer Singh. The people who consumed the liquor complained of vomiting and other problems and all were rushed to the primary health centres and later shifted to the district hospital.
  However, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Kumar Sahani has confirmed death of only six people so far but did not ruled out more deaths. District Magistate Udaybhan Tripathi has also rushed to the village to enquire about the incident.
The deceased includes Chote Lal (62), his three sons Ramesh (35), Sonu (25) and Mukesh (28). Other deceased are  Rajesh (30), Ramesh Kumar and Suryabhan (27), Rajendra Verma (45), Gautam (41) and Mahendra (38).
  Meanwhile, DGP has suspended  Inspector Ramnagar Rajesh Kumar  and CO Pawan Gautam.  IG Faizabad has also rushed to the spot. Two excise inspector and three constables are also likely to be suspended while orders have been issued to arrest the owner of the liquor outlet.
Among the  people admitted to the hospital condition of three were stated to be critical.
Barabanki, adjoining the state capital, is notorious for spurious liquor and in January 2018, 11 people have died in the same Ramnagar locality. (AGENCIES)
