RAMBAN, Feb 1: In a collision between two rashly driven passenger vehicles (Tavera Taxis), 10 persons sustained injuries in Mehad area on Jammu Srinagar National Highway, late in the evening. Both the passenger vehicles were heading towards Kashmir when the accident occurred.
Police sources said a rashly driven vehicle (Tavera Taxi), bearing registration number JK01AW -0720, collided with another vehicle (Tavera Taxi) bearing registration number JK02AT-3615 resulting in injuries to ten passengers. They said all the injured were shifted to District Hospital Ramban by pedestrians.
Police identified the injured as Basu Rathod (25) wife of Manvinder Singh of Jaipur, Manvinder Singh (27) son of Rajendra Singh of Jaipur, Rashmi (27) wife of Amit Dutt of Jodhpur, Chitna (23) wife of Vikram Parbhat of BJS Colony Jodhpur, Arifa (25) wife of Mushtaq Ahmed of Qazigund, Mushtaq Ahmed (32) son of Ali Muhammad of Qazigund, Aashiq (11) son of Basheer Ahmed of Jammu, Bashir Ahmed (55), son of Ghulam Hassan of Qazigund, Sakina Bibi (35) wife of Basheer Ahmed of Qazigund and Khalida (30), wife of Haroon of Qazigund.
“The driver of vehicle bearing registration number JK01AW -3615, involved in the accident fled away from the spot,” Police sources said, adding a case FIR Number 12 of 2025 under section 281/125(a) BNS, was registered at Police Station Ramban for further investigation.
Doctors treating the injured at District Hospital said one critically injured passenger was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
