Tension after death of Sarpanch, 4 arrested

Srinagar, Nov 27: A Sarpanch of the ruling National Conference (NC) succumbed today after he was injured in a scuffle yesterday in North Kashmir district of Bandipora. Police have arrested four persons in connection with this death.
Forty five year old Abdul Rashid Wagay suffered head injuries after being hit with some hard object by one Shakeel Ahmad Khan during a scuffle over some issue yesterday at Hajan area of Bandipora.
Wagay was rushed to SKIMS hospital Soura, where he succumbed to the injuries today. Police has registered a case and arrested Khan.
Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was heavily deployed in the village and there was restriction on the movement of people.
Some youth pelted stones on police and they fired tear smoke shells to disperse the stone pelting youth.
A police spokesman said that Bandipora police has deployed contingents of policemen in Kathpora area of Hajin to avert any untoward incident after a person who was injured in a scuffle yesterday succumbed in the hospital today.
The spokesman said that Abdul Rashid Wagay son of Abdul Gani Wagay resident of Kathpora, Hajin was injured in a scuffle with a gas dealer in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, yesterday. The injured was rushed to SKIMS Hospital Soura, where he succumbed to injuries today.
Police has registered  a case FIR number 105/14 under Section 302/RPC in this regard and investigation has been taken up. The four accused persons Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan sons of Mohammad Shafi Khan and Showkat Ahmad Parray, Firdous Ahmad Parray sons of Ghulam Ahmad Parray were arrested.
The contingents of police men were deployed to avert any untoward incident in the area. The situation is under control.
