Tension in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Oct 29: The objectionable contents on the social networking site—Facebook created law and order problem in Kishtwar district today. In the campaign on internet, the involvement of three persons including two Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers surfaced and the district administration immediately took action against them to defuse the situation.
Reports said that some people resorted to campaign against a particular community by uploading some objectionable contents on social networking site—Facebook. Some persons from Chatroo area liked the contents by logging in their respective accounts on Facebook.
When the people of another community, against which the contents were uploaded by some unscrupulous elements, came to know about the liking of objectionable material they came out on roads and started holding demonstration against what they termed attempts to hurt their religious sentiments.
The news regarding objectionable material on Facebook and liking of same by some members of one community in Chatroo spread like wildfire and after sometime a complete shut-down was observed in the locality inhibited by a community, which felt hurt by the contents on Facebook and liking of the same by another community.
Later, a protest rally was taken towards the office of Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar. On way to DC’s office, the protesters even pelted stones on the Police Station and damaged some vehicles. Deputy Commissioner, Mohd Saleem Choudhary gave patient hearing to the protesters and assured stern action against those involved in hurting their sentiments.
In the evening, Deputy Commissioner issued an order which states: “Some people have resorted to campaign against one community on internet, which has triggered law and order problem. Prima-facie the involvement of Kishori Sharma, of Passerkoot Chatroo, Bansi Lal, of Khariyan and Kirti Sharma, of Passerkoot has surfaced as per the report of Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar”.
“One of the personal namely Bansi Lal is a Government teacher (ReT) posted in Primary School Khariyan and another Kishori Sharma, ReT teacher in Primary School Treshi. Pending enquiry Kishori Sharma and Bansi Lal are terminated”, the order said, adding “Superintendent of Police will prepare dossier of the involved person for further booking under criminal laws like PSA and CrPC”.
Following the issuance of order by Deputy Commissioner, the protesters dispersed.
