Tension in Malothi after stone pelting

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 4: Tension gripped village Malothi in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district this afternoon when members of majority community pelted stones on the houses of minorities over a land dispute in which some persons sustained minor injuries.
Reports said trouble erupted when members of the majority community objected to construction of a house by a minority community member at village Malothi on the ground that he was encroaching upon a portion of land of the religious place. The civilian, however, insisted that the land belonged to him.
As both sides staked claim over the land, the people from majority community started pelting stones on the houses of minorities.
SSP Doda Arif Reshu said police parties including SP and SDPO Bhaderwah rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. They talked to both the communities and urged them to maintain peace.
Mr Reshu said the situation was completely under control and no body has been injured in the incident.
He added that police have called Revenue authorities to the spot tomorrow morning to settle the land dispute.
