Will review COVID situation in Kashmir today

NEW DELHI, July 11 : Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that terrorists are on the run in Kashmir and are faced with a hot chase by security forces.
What is significant, he said, is that in the wake of the recent sequence of events, particularly after August 5, 2019, even the separatist leaders and the so-called mainstream political parties of Kashmir have started tactically distancing themselves from the terrorists.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra and BJP leader Ram Madhav will visit killed party leader’s residence at Bandipora tomorrow. Later, Dr Jitendra will review COVID-19 situation in Kashmir with administration.
In an elaborate interview on Jammu & Kashmir affairs to the Doordarshan, Dr Jitendra said, under the Modi Government, there is clarity and conviction in following the policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and this has started showing logical results. Expressing deep dismay at the brutal killing of a BJP leader in Bandipora, Kashmir, he said, this was also the handiwork of the terrorists on the run, who are looking for soft targets out of desperation.
Predicting that this is the last chapter of the thirty years’ old history of terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir, he said, two heavily terrrorised districts of Doda and Kishtwar which had seen many a massacre over the last three decades, have today been rendered terror-free. A more recent heartening phenomenon is that Kashmir-centric leaders now stand exposed for their duplicity and the new generation of youth is not prepared to stake its future in the manner the earlier two generations were pushed into doing, he added.
Commenting on the current scenario in Jammu & Kashmir in the wake of the COVID pandemic, Singh said, unlike in many other parts of the country, the development activities continued in the Union Territory, though sometimes the pace got reduced or there was a brief interruption. In this context, he referred to the inauguration of six BRO bridges in the border area by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the July 9 and before that, the inauguration of two important bridges of Devika in Udhampur and Puneja in Bhaderwah. Despite the lockdown, the work is going on for the construction of the Medical College in Doda and National Institute of High Altitude Medicine in Bhaderwah, he said.
“For the first time in 72 years, Jammu & Kashmir has introduced Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, amended by DoPT in 2018, and the results of this will begin to show very soon”, he said.
