Tertiary Care hospitals to depute doctors to peripheries once a week

Srinagar, May 21: The Tertiary Care hospitals have been asked to form a team of doctors that can frequently visit the important hospitals in the peripheries that are dealing with the COVID-19.
A letter in this regard has been written by the Divisional Administration of Kashmir to the Director SKIMS, Principal GMC Srinagar and Principal SKIMS, Medical College Bemina stated that the directions are being passed to reduce the fatality rate in peripheral hospitals and referrals to tertiary care hospitals.
The Administration has said that the move will ensure transparency and increase the confidence of patients admitted to these centres. The heads of these hospitals have been asked to depute a team of doctors once a week to peripheral COVID hospitals
The letter reads: “To extend the benefits of the expertise of tertiary care hospitals to important peripheral hospitals, presently engaged in the treatment of patients and effectively tackle the challenges posed by the present Covid Pandemic, reduce the fatality rate in the peripheral areas and referrals to the tertiary care hospitals, it has been felt that the following arrangements shall greatly benefit in mitigating the challenges of present Pandemic and improving health care in peripheral Covid hospitals.”
As per the letter, the Director SKIMS will depute a team of doctors, once a week of Covid relevant field, to SDH Sopore, CHC Kupwara, DH Bandipora and DH Ganderbal, while as the Principal Government Medical College Srinagar has been asked to depute a team of doctors of Covid relevant field, once a week, to Trauma Hospital Bijbehara and Covid health care institutions in district Kulgam.
Similarly, the Principal SKIMS Medical College, Bemina has been asked to depute a team of doctors, once a week, to District Hospital, Pulwama and District Hospital, Shopian.
Further, as per the directives, the arrangement of the team shall be put in place with immediate effect and shall have at least one Medicine Consultant and one Anaesthesia Consultant, well versed with the COVID treatment and Protocols.
