RAJOURI, May 29: The Rajouri-Thannamandi road, under construction for the last over four years is in a deplorable condition, particularly within the Municipal limits of the town.
The stretch from Thannamandi bridge to Shahdra Chowk, and further at Begonara, is badly affected. The road users are suffering immensely while the local administration has turned blind eye towards this fact.
Several prominent locals, including Haji Maqbool Raina; Shamim Ahmed Mughal, vice president National Conference Pirpanjal region; Shoket Ahmed Shawl, Chairman Rajouri Development Forum and Imran Khan expressed their serious concern over the burning issue.
They stated, “We have repeatedly appealed to the administration and GREF authorities, but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears due to their negligent and careless attitude. The road is marred by large potholes, causing significant inconvenience to the locals. Vehicles suffer regular damage, resulting in substantial financial losses for the residents.”
They further claimed that the locals are fed up with the administration’s inaction and the ongoing suffering caused by the road’s poor condition. The residents have issued a stern ultimatum claiming that if the road is not made traffic- worthy within a week’s time, they will launch a massive protest dharna. The local administration will be solely responsible for the consequences, they added.
