JAMMU, Feb 3: Commissioner of Income Tax AK Thatai here has been promoted as the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax.
“The orders were issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India,”official spokesperson here today said.
He said that Mr Thatai joined his new post here at the Income Tax Office, Jammu has also been elevated as the office of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax while he is retained at Jammu Office.
Mr Thatai belongs to 1985 batch of Indian Revenue Service and joined as Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu in early 2012.
The spokesperson said that due to his effective communication with the tax payers of the State, the income tax collections also increased many fold from approximately Rs 400 crore to Rs 1100 crore in the Financial Year 2013-14.
Thatai believes in humane approach to resolve the problems of tax payers and always believes in disposing off all the matters very diligently and judiciously, he added.
