JAMMU, Dec 12: The biography of Amarnath Vaishnavi late Kashmiri Pandit leader and an RSS ideologue written by Balkrishan Sanyasi, a renowned Kashmiri writer and the nephew of late leader hits stands.
The foreword of the book has been written by Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh.
The book tries to answer some of the questions about the paradise on earth, such as the onset of terrorism and the factors that led to it. Was Kashmir simmering over decades prior to 1990 when the unrest started? What were the events that led to blood bath on the streets of this paradise? Was there any chance that the destiny of Kashmir could have been different from what it is today?
Today Kashmir holds world attention more due to the events of last three decades and many people have written loads of literature about the region, its history and politics. “The Chronicles of Kashmir” is the Biography of Pandit Amarnath Vaishnavi which takes us through the historic events dating back to the accession of Kashmir with India in 1947 till the year 2012.This time period coincides with the active lifetime of the Octogenarian, who was a social worker and a reformer at grassroot level. He was one of the founders of the Nationalist Movement in Jammu and Kashmir.
The book brings to fore a perspective based on the first-hand experiences of Pandit Amarnath Vaishnavi, who was at the helm of political and social changes in Kashmir as an RSS Swayamsevak and as the president of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and a major force behind some of the historic events that had an indelible mark on the destiny of its people particularly the minority Kashmiri Pandits.
He had a contribution in the landing of Indian troupes in Kashmir in 1947 to combat the Pakistani aggression and also in the Prajaparishad movement which was launched to integrate Kashmir with India. He led the Buddhist movement of 1968 in Ladakh and the Kashmiri Pandit agitation of 1967.
A humanist, liked by people irrespective of religion, caste or region, Vaishnavi also had influence in the corridors of power but he never used it for the benefit of his own self or his close family. The book has been published by RV Learning Foundation; an organization run by Ms. Rohini Vaishnavi, the grand daughter of the legendary leader and the book is worldwide available on Amazon and Flipkart.
