LOS ANGELES, July 19: Warner Bros has announced that it will rerelease Christian Bale and Heath Ledger-starrer “The Dark Knight” in four IMAX theatres to mark the film’s tenth anniversary.
The film, which was the second in director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, will be screened in select IMAX theatres in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and Toronto.
Theatres will host the film for an exclusive one-week engagement, beginning August 24, with bookings starting from July 20.
The film was the first major project to have scenes shot in the IMAX format. It featured six sequences filmed with IMAX cameras, including the Joker’s first appearance.
“The Dark Knight”, released in 2008, had raked in a total of USD one billion at the global box office.
It featured Bale as The Batman and Ledger as The Joker, and was also nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning two: best supporting actor for Ledger and best sound editing. (PTI)
