Also known as BS lV lab which was duly announced four years back to be installed within just one year in the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu, has so far remained on papers only and has not seen the light of the day. Orders were, however, issued for establishing such a lab each in Jammu and in Srinagar but as on date, while the one established in Srinagar Chest Disease Hospital started functioning some three years back while in Jammu nothing of the sort which is worrying and astonishing as well.
The only ‘development’ in this regard is about completion of civil and mechanical works to house the laboratory while no equipment or the sort has been provided to it so far. If administration is not undone , uncaring and casual in seeing that in both capital cities such labs should start functioning , how is it that in Srinagar the said lab is already functioning but not in Jammu. In the meantime, project cost is reported to have escalated by at least Rs. 1 crore. We request the administration to look into the problem and arrange providing the required equipment and other logistics so that the lab starts working at an early date.
