JAMMU, Nov 3: In a novel initiative to promote and encourage reading and studying habits amongst the student community of Jammu, particularly those preparing for competitive/banking/NEET/IIT examinations, “The Hawking’s Reading Zone ” has been thrown open at Gujjar Nagar, Circular Road, Jammu.
The library , which was inaugurated by Allah Rakha Malik, retired Deputy Secretary, JKBOSE, offers 24×7 reading facility, free wifi for study purpose, fully air conditioned setup, free general books accessibility , uninterrupted power backup, CCTV monitoring, locker facility, clean drinking water and free magazine and newspaper service.
It will not only be a reading zone but will also help the registered students in career guidance/counseling. The Hawkings Reading zone has a special book shelf dedicated to the “Stephen Hawking” in a tribute to world renowned Physicist , who has been called an “inspiration to millions”.
The Hawking’s Reading zone has a limited capacity and initially it has been started with 12 hour morning slot and 10 hour evening slot. All the seats were filled even before it was inaugurated.
The registered students y appreciated the chairperson Nafiz Malik for conceptualising it and expressed their utmost satisfaction for coming up with the reading zone.
