Sir,
It is a good news that the Government has awoken even if late to the need of regulating of acid sale across the counter at retail shops. The brute criminals in the society have been in many instances misusing the acid by throwing it on their victims for not agreeing or succumbing to their pressure tactics in matters largely involving sexual overtures or matrimonial decisions thrust against the wishes of the victims. Such heinous attacks spoil the life of the victims and the Supreme Court has taken a serious note of the menace and directed that the crime be made a non bailable offence. The directives issued by the Government need to be scrupulously followed by the vendors and no leniency of any sort be shown either by the Police or by the members of the civil society towards any violations of the gudelines of sale regulation and the offenders be suitably punished. Throwing acid to burn the victim should attract at least a life imprisonment and a heavy fine. Law needs to be suitably amended.
Yours etc….
