Theatre Festival concludes with Jatinder Sharma’s play ‘Shooting’

REASI, Nov 2: On the final day of weak long Theatre Festival organized by Sangam Theatre Group and supported by Union Ministry of Culture here at DIET Auditorium, Hindi adaptation of Jatinder Sharma’s original Dogri play “Shooting” was staged by Rangyatri Jammu.
Chudhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department, was the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Shiv Kumar Gupta, was the guest of honour.
Final day’s presentation was marked by a competent performance by the team of young actors who successfully kept up the racy pace of the unfolding events with perfect sense of timing in terms of delivery of dialogs, body movements and gestures.
The play is based on playwright’s experiences during the making of first Dogri film “Gallan Hoyiaan Bitiaan” in which Jatinder Sharma acted as the “Hero”. The play is a comic take on what goes behind the scene during the shooting of film.
Directed by Mohit Mehra, the play “Shooting” revolves around the protagonist heroine ‘Mala’, who is beautiful but self centered and cold hearted individual. All the male characters in the play are attracted to her but worldly-wise Mala rebuffs them all one by one. She has eye on the big fish. Production Manager, Sharma Ji, is the first man to be besotted by her charms, the other male characters follow suit. Many interesting and amusing incidents take place during the course of the play.
The artists who performed in the play were Sandeep Verma, Ankit Sharma, Aayaan Ali, Vivek Sangotra, Rohit Sangotra, Mohit Mehra, Azem Wani, Love Anand, Mohit Singh Chib and Rabiyah Hayat Ansari.
Meanwhile, SSP Reasi, Sujit Kumar, ADDC Reasi, Bhawani Singh Rakhwal, Additional DC Reasi, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Direcror CAPD and many other dignitaries were awarded by the chief guest. Directors of all the six participating groups were also felicitated on the occasion.
