POONCH, Mar 30: J&K Police solved a theft case within 24 hours, arrested thief and recovered stolen cash in Poonch today.
Official sources said that the incident took place at Mohalla Shanker Nager on Wednesday in the absence of family, after which on the complaint of house owner, Kewal Krishan Suri, son of Shivji Lal Suri, police swung into action.
Family said that they saw the door lock broken on returning home. It was found that Rs 35000 was taken away by the thief but he could not succeed in breaking locker in which jewellery was kept.
A Police team headed by SI Sushant Singh visited the spot and with the help of Human intelligence and CCTV footage, the thief was identified and later arrested within 24 hours who belongs to Surankote tehsil, while some of the stolen cash was also recovered.
Station House Officer, Inspector Ranjit Singh Rao when contacted said that a case FIR number 44 under sections 380, 454 IPC has been registered in Police Station Poonch and further investigation has been taken up.
